Trumpet Blast in Saxmundham

As a farewell trumpet blast to the Alzheimer's Research UK Cycling Down Dementia challenge, Peter and his family and friends hosted an event in Saxmundham. Focusing on mental health, physical health and general well-being, friends and colleagues from relevant organisations came to share information. We also held a raffle which was brilliantly supported with prizes donated from Ipswich Town FC, The Weavers' Tea Room, Garnetts' Tea Room, The Unruly Pig, Charmian Berry Photography and the George Farnham Gallery. Particular thanks to Paul from the Railway Tavern who bludgeoned/persuaded (delete where applicable!) loads of people into buying tickets!! I would love to know his technique.

Our wonderful local bakery, No. 1 Bakery, donated cakes for us to sell and we are delighted to say that the cakes and the raffle together raised £268. This amount, added to the £1,188 raised from the cycle challenge, gives us a total of £1,456 for Alzheimer's Research UK.

Peter's brilliant presentation was met with warm applause and he also managed to get a subtle plug in for our book, Slow Puncture (due out in September) so all in all a great afternoon was had by all. Special thanks go to Sammie and Aiste from Sax'Cess House for coming out on a Saturday to help us set up and host the event.
