Well done to all at Care Development East for putting on an excellent conference at Trinity Park today. The event drew together so many organisations and individuals from the world of dementia and social care and was well attended by members of the public, carers and individuals living with Alzheimer's.
Peter and I were delighted to be invited to attend and, this time, not as speakers! This gave us the freedom to rove freely around the Centre and catch up with old friends and some newer ones and, lets' face it, some whom neither of us knew but we both enjoyed meeting them anyway and convincingly blagged it.
Some time ago, Peter, Teresa and I took part in a virtual reality project whereby we cycled from Aldeburgh to Thorpeness with Peter on his penny farthing. We had the opportunity to watch the VR film today (the picture where Peter has the goggles on) and it was so well made - huge congratulations to all involved here.
I was also pleased that Peter and I had the chance to close the proceedings with BBC Radio Suffolk. Peter was able to talk about the necessity for such events, the importance of removing the stigma attached to a dementia diagnosis and of simply living well. And totally unprompted (read with a pinch of salt) it was great that Sarah asked me about our latest book, Patching the Puncture, The Dementia Journey Continues. It was rather odd to be able to go from "I'm writing a book" to "it's being published and available from February 2026".
See you all next year with the book in tow!
