Yesterday Peter and I had another wonderful opportunity to give an audience a glimpse into what it's like for him to live with Alzheimer's.
We were invited to the Dementias Conference 2026 by rochediagnosticsuk and off we went to London to talk about the benefits of early diagnosis and the power of knowing what a dementia diagnosis offers.
It was a long day for both of us; travelling from Suffolk to London appears easy enough but everything takes time and London is (as Peter sagely observed) "busier than Sax on market day."
And obviously the day was not without navigational hiccups but that's what happens when you leave someone in charge who has no sense of direction or ability to read a map! Luckily Peter was able to sort it all out and we got to our destination more or less unruffled .
We had been asked to focus on the diagnosis process, how early diagnosis would be beneficial to others and how the power of knowing that one had the condition was key to ensuring a positive outlook to life. This was slightly different to our usual presentations and talks but the general consensus was that we had ticked the boxes that needed to be ticked.
Indeed, I was touched to receive a message from our Gibraltar based friends to say that some of their colleagues had heard the talk online and it had been inspiring.
I am often overwhelmed by the power of connections and how Peter's story has travelled so widely now. As always, together we are stronger!
