Institute of Government & Public Policy Conference: Manchester

Last year, Peter and I had the pleasure of addressing delegates at this conference online; this year, we went one better and travelled up to Manchester to speak to over 100 delegates.

The conference brought together a range of organisations, personnel and ideas and was extremely well run with interesting perspectives on living well with dementia and, equally importantly, provided us all with excellent food and refreshments.

Apart from one of us struggling with being in Manchester with all the football trauma one of us has experienced, it was a great location - both for the conference and the hotel where the IGPP accommodated us. For that one (I leave it to your imagination which one of us it was), there was also the surreal experience of watching Arsenal thrash Chelsea from a TV screen in a Manchester bar.

The tweet below is one example of the very positive feedback Peter and I received and today we heard from conference organiser that on the feedback survey, Peter and I were given 4.97 out of 5 which, apparently, is the best feedback ever received although I am quite intrigued at how the algorithm calculated the .97.

A big shout out to Teresa who managed to walk over 10 miles around Manchester on the conference day. For obvious reasons, Teresa does not always like to be at these events and I am entirely in awe of her for the miles covered that day and for the fact that she did not appear to get lost! Peter would not be able to attend overnight events without Teresa and so it was very pleasing that her day in Manchester was so successful.

Thanks to all at the IGPP and to Aleks for making the trip so successful and for making us feel very welcome.
